Questions & Answers
Frequently asked questions
Everything clients most often ask about appointments, color, policies and preparing for a visit — answered honestly. Can’t find yours? Just ask.
Appointments
How do I book an appointment at The Maria Salon?
You can request an appointment through the booking form on this website, or reach us by phone at 586-612-7014 or by email at hair@themariasalon.com. Online requests are not confirmed automatically — we personally review each one and contact you to confirm a time that works.
Is my online booking request a confirmed appointment?
Not yet — think of it as a reservation request. Once you submit the form, The Maria Salon will contact you to confirm availability and finalize your time. You’ll receive an email recap of your request right away, and a confirmation once your time is set.
Cancellations
How do I cancel or reschedule my appointment?
Contact us by phone or email as soon as your plans change, and we’ll rearrange things. We simply ask for as much notice as you can manage, as a courtesy to clients waiting for an opening. See our Cancellation Policy page for details.
What happens if I miss my appointment without notice?
We understand that genuine emergencies happen. Repeated no-shows, however, may affect how future appointments are scheduled. If you missed a visit, just get in touch — a quick call resets everything.
Hair Coloring
I’ve colored my hair at home before. Can you still work with it?
Absolutely — and please tell us everything about it. Previous color, including box dye and henna, affects how new color behaves, so an honest history helps us plan safely. For significant changes we may recommend a consultation first so we can assess your hair in person.
Can I go from dark to blonde in one appointment?
Sometimes, but often a dramatic lift is healthiest as a staged journey over more than one visit. Your stylist will assess your hair’s condition and history and give you an honest timeline — beautiful color should never cost you your hair’s strength.
Hair Preparation
Should I wash my hair before my appointment?
It depends on the service. For most color services, hair washed a day before is ideal; for special occasion styling, clean and completely dry hair usually holds best. We’ll confirm what suits your specific appointment when you book.
What should I bring to my appointment?
Inspiration photos are gold — a couple of looks you love, and even one you don’t. If you’re coming for color, a rough note of your hair’s recent history helps too. Otherwise, just bring yourself; we’ll handle the rest.
New Clients
I’m a new client. What should I expect at my first visit?
A warm welcome and an unhurried consultation before anything else. We’ll talk about your hair’s history, what you love and what you’d change, and agree on a plan together before the service begins. Our New Clients page walks through the whole experience.
Should I book a consultation before my first color service?
For significant color work — major changes, corrections, or hair with a complex history — yes, we recommend it. A short consultation lets us assess your hair in person and plan properly, which almost always means a better result on the day.
Payments
What payment methods do you accept?
Please ask the salon directly about currently accepted payment methods when you book or before your visit — we’re happy to confirm by phone at 586-612-7014 or by email.
How much do services cost?
Pricing varies with hair length, condition and the specific service, so we don’t publish flat rates that might mislead you. Contact the salon for current pricing, or book a consultation for a personalized quote — no surprises in the chair, ever.
Salon Policies
What is your policy on arriving late?
Life happens — if you’re running behind, please call the salon as soon as you can. We’ll do our best to accommodate you, though a significant delay may mean adjusting or rescheduling your service so other guests aren’t affected. Full details are on our Salon Policies page.
Can I bring children or guests to my appointment?
We kindly ask that guests and little ones join you only when necessary, as seating is limited and some services involve chemicals and heat. If you need to bring someone along, just mention it when booking and we’ll let you know what works.
