Great color is a partnership. Your stylist brings technique and product knowledge; you bring your hair and its history. A little preparation on your side makes the whole appointment smoother — and often makes the result noticeably better.
Don’t arrive squeaky-clean
Freshly scrubbed scalps can be more sensitive during color services. Hair washed a day or so before the appointment is ideal for most services: clean enough to work with, with a whisper of natural oil protecting the scalp. If your service needs something different, we’ll tell you when you book.
Be completely honest about your hair’s history
This is the single most important thing you can do. Box color from last winter, henna from years ago, an old relaxer, that one experimental phase — everything still on your hair changes how new color behaves. There is no judgment in the chair, ever. There is only chemistry, and chemistry rewards honesty.
Bring pictures — of both loves and hates
“Warm caramel” means five different things to five people. Photos anchor the conversation: two or three of colors you love, and just as usefully, one of a shade you want to avoid. Screenshots are perfect.
Dress for the occasion
Wear something with a collar that’s easy to protect, and skip the favorite white blouse on appointment day. Leave delicate earrings at home for longer services — foils and jewelry have complicated relationships.
Plan your timing
Color appointments deserve unhurried time. Ask how long to expect when you book, and give yourself a comfortable margin afterward. The best color happens when nobody — stylist or client — is watching the clock.
